Another busy day at work, did a house clearance, but managed to watch a video tutorial on the basics of ftp (file transfer protocol), this is the software that i need to use to upload stuff to my website.

The goal now is to get to grips with Aweber, get some messages written and put the opt in form on my squeeze page so that i can start building a list.

Day 9, 10, 11, 12

The last few days has seen me stagnate a bit, the momentum had gone but i finally signed up with Aweber and got my autoresponder so that now i can put a sign up form on my website, write the follow up emails, and write the free gift….easy!!!!

I must push myself to get these things done now if i want to succeed with this business. Today i’m off to do a house clearance though!

Day 8

Finally finished viewing the video tutorials on building a website! I know that I can now produce a basic website but am realizing that before I can put my website up on the net, i need to have an autoresponder all set up with emails etc. and my free gift ready to download.

Finishing the website tutorials felt like a real landmark but now i feel like it’s 1 step forward and 3 steps back!!

I really need to focus now on finishing the job off, getting the ebook finished, getting the autoresponder set up and getting this lot online. To add to the sense of urgency, i checked Google today and my website is on the first page of results!!! trouble is there is no website, no nothing!!!

Had a look at Clickank today, it’s a site that affiliate marketers use to buy and sell products. I did a search for antique restoration, there is next to nothing available, not sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing!

Found a site on Clickbank by a guy that restores leather, he is selling an ebook and a short video course, dug deeper and found his main website, he is in New Zealand. Started having thoughts about offering my ebook and videos as an affiliate program (when they are done!)…Mmmmmm

Day 6

Things seem to be taking forever to come together, still putting in as much time as I can studying, the squeeze page for my website is almost done, now I need to sign up for an autoresponder, another £20 per month! Things have slowed down on the house clearance front so i really need to get some more boxes restored and get them sold.

Another long day!

Got up at 3am, checked my emails and eBay, left for the market at 4am, got home at 1pm..exhausted, but had a good day, bought 4 boxes… had a couple of hours sleep!

Did a bit more more work on my website content but it’s slow going, I’m still not sure about what the content should be, mainly (I think) because I’m not really sure who I’m aiming it at! Problem!! Decided to leave it alone for today, need to give it more thought.

Did some more work on my ebook, decided to call it “Box Clever” the Ins & Outs of Buying, Selling and restoring antique boxes! Quite pleased with that, finding it much easier to write that I thought.

2 hours online

Had a long day at work today doing a house clearance so didn’t manage to get much time online, it’s quite frustrating balancing time with the day job and studying, but the bills have got to be paid!!

Had lots of replies to my forum post, think I’m a bit clearer now, need to build a squeeze page and content on my website, still not completely sure though.

My thoughts of having my website up in a week are a bit premature, I think it’s going to be more like 2 or 3 weeks!

3 hours online

Yesterday was a bit overwhelming, although I’m getting my head around my html editor and how to use it, I felt like my head was going to explode thinking about what content to actually put into my new website.

Very aware that i must use my site to build a list, but confused about whether it should be a one page site with an opt in, squeeze page, or a content rich site and use the squeeze as a free membership sign up.

Posted the question on Chris Farrell membership site, received a reply suggesting that i make it a squeeze page to start building my list using a giveaway, then promote a newsletter or product, still not sure what to do.

Day 2 – 3 hours study time

Tough day today, long day at work, ebay in the morning, then a house clearance.

Managed 3 hours of study, mainly on html editor Kompozer, started getting to grips with the basics, hopefully I’ll have my first website up within a week.

Why start this blog?

There are 2 main reasons why i started this blog, firstly so that i can keep a record of my progress in my attempt to start my own online business, and secondly to help me get used to using a blog, writing, and using WordPress. I plan to write my feelings and experiences down as often as possible, this is the first post. I’ve been studying hard for the last week, also ben flat out at work so today i’m taking a day off…going to to see my boy and sooo looking forward to it.
